Staff from Financial Reporting were required to perform audit on overtime expenses at the regional offices and the date agreed were from 15 to 19 Dec 2008. They had to travel to the regional offices prior to the start of the audit, and were acompanied by the one staff from IAD and one staff from HRD. This joint-effort audit by departments would help colloboration and understanding between departments and with RMs & BMs.
This will be the first time and opportunity for Finance Staff to visit the selected branches.

Excellent Service Award 2008
PNB Ilham Resort, Port Dickson (14 - 16 November 2008).
About 150 out of 167 award receipients had attended the event and travelling and lodging was arranged by the Company. The event started with briefing at SBC before proceeding towards the venue.
The event was organised to strengthen the bond between management and the operation workforce to a better understanding and openness.

Charity Golf Event
A charity golf tournament was held on 25 Oct 2008 at Kelab Golf Negeri Selangor.
The 1st three winners of a golf tournament presented a mock cheque to 3 pre-selected charity organisations for a donation of a sum of money with the actual cheques. The players were representatives from customers with the management team.
There various sponsorship received from various suppliers for the event.

Birthday party and Hariraya feast
24 Oct - Finance Dept had organised for today a birthday and hariraya feast in the morning. There fried bihun, lemang, chocolate cakes, kropok lekor, apam, puding, sandwich, cookies, and hariraya cookies.
It is my birthday today...........

Surau Renovation at Lot 16
A renovation is under way starting from mid Sep 2008 to upgrade the surau at Lot 16. The multi-purpose room is taken out for and a bigger room for male surau with absolution built inside the male surau. For the ladies, the absolution was builth inside with an adjoining toilet. Both surau were larger than before and fully tiled. Carpet had been removed due to bad smell. It should be cosy and nice place to perform the daily prayers for muslims concerned.
In the meantime, due to the location of surau is in restricted area, a new gate to control vehicles had been installed with a small door for pedestrian to pass through. Access to outsiders remained strictly controlled.
Anyway, thank you to the company for making such generous contribution.

Power failure
The power shortage which had started from Tuesday 16 Sep continued to bog us in Accounts Payable and Treasury Sections on this day. Only the light is affected with the computer was running fine. But when they trying to fix it last Tuesday, the computers were affected also.
Working with the blind pulled up giving me headache with the warm and heat from the sun. It is slowly getting to me already......

Hariraya Breakbulk 2008
The hariraya breakbulk for 2008 had started a few days ago. From Finance, Azuan, Azni, Sam Chin, Azzemi, Umayal, Grace and Amir will be involved. Since fasting had started at 01 Sep, then for those fasting will be hard.
We salute to those guys still able to fast and to continue to volunteer to work at the breakbulk. There are wet days and there are hot days with sun blazing high in the sky.

On 03 Sep 2008, Syamsuraida or Syam had finally went to labour and given birth a baby daughter.

Meal for start of Ramadhan
29 Aug 2008 - With the coming of Ramadhan, some staff had decided to have breakfast together by having everyone making / bringing one dish to the menu. So early in the morning everyone cat eat the breakfast brought by everyone else.

There was fried mee, fried eggs, two types of cake, one tray of sweet cake, "keria", "roti canai", jelly and others. It was tasteful and enough for everyone to enjoy a heavy breakfast.

Visit by Ms Phung Li Chen
22 Aug 2008 Friday.
Our former Senior Manager Finance whom had left us in year 2006 to pursue her oversea career had dropped by today for chat and catching up with us. She dressed smartly and talked and behaved as we knew her. She had taken leave with her family over here and had been to some places during her holiday. But she said was sorry that could not stay for National Day since her children classes started on 3rd Sep 08. The return flight was on Thursday 28/08/2008.
She was impressed the office environment and glad that there were good changes. And that seeing all the colleagues had bring back memories. She described how her living in Qatar and that enjoying herself and having a good time. It was hot during the day but she infrequently went outside. The Qatari seemed to like Malaysian people an place. She said it was difficult to book for ticket to / fro Malaysia.
It had started raining by mid way and she stayed over until it drizzled off. Afterward she drove herself to SBC after checking whether Terry O'Neil was in the office. She wanted to meet Eugene as well.

Long Service Award 2008 - Central
This year Long Service Awards (LSA) would includes those who had worked for 10 - 14 years as well for 15, 20, 25 and 30 years ranges. The final round of karaoke contest for selection of winner to represent Malaysia will be made during this event. It was held at Pearl International Hotel, Jalan Klang Lama on 16 Aug 2008 on level 5.
For year 2008, the Finance staff who are eligible to attend are Kamarul Othman, Azzemi, Umayal, Yanty, Azizah, Noorhayati, Lee Yong and Masliza. However Azzemi, Yanty, Noorhayati and Azizah were unable to attend. Dress code for male black shirt and white pant, and for female is white dress and black skirt.
At the reception, the guests queued for the registration and goodie bag. The welcome drinks were served at the balcony by the swimming pool. The open air balcony at level 5 was nice and it was rather breezy evening.
The ceremony started with opening speeches fom Mer Ted and a doa, before break for prayers. The dinner started at 07.30 pm. The dinner course were Chinese style with 7 courses starting the normal shark fin soup, then fried rice, fried seabass with sweet sour sauce, veg in fried basket, desert were cooled longan and biscuit. Rather bland.
The singing contest started at 08:00 PM for 12 contestants from 6 regions. They came fully dressed to the occassion. There were 3 professional judges invited to select the winners. After it had ended, Mr Ted was proud to announce that he will bring not only winner but the 2nd and 3rd places also to perform at the Regional Meeting planned in Penang. The winner won RM 1,000.00 and the trip to Asia Pacific Singing Contest, the 2nd place won RM 500.00 and 3rd place was RM 250.00.
Next was showing of photos of all the recipients of the awards. It does bring back memories to those days and some were totally different from what we looked like now. It went on for 30 miniutes non-stop. The last photos En Lope Abd Rahman who had been with the company for 40 years. Among the ones who had worked for 35 years were Pushparani (CPC) and Rajagopal Sockalingam (Guardings).
There were 3 lucky draws for 2days and 1 night stay and 2 buffet dinners given by the hotel and I cannot recall who won what. There were best dress prizes as well: ladies Umayal and Wan Faridah, male: Siva Shanker, a guards and me. So we had to parade ourselves over the stages. The winners were Umayal and Siva Shanker ( Each gets cash RM100 and a hamper).
When the main event started it was a bit confusing but total number of recipients were 315 people. Every participant was given a number and to queue up as their number was called. My number was 236 so I had to wait until most the crowd getting their awards before getting mine. The last recipient was En Lope Abd Rahman for 40 years service.
The winners for singing contest were announced last with pop and glitters. And the night closed with photography session. Mohd Faizal (ATM PJ) won 1st place, Nazri Omar (ISO JB) at 2nd and 3rd place was Dego bin Dail (Kota Kinabalu).
I had shook the hands of Mr Ted and Mr Siva thanking them before thanking Mr Eugene and the organising committee team members. I know how hard it is to organise an event such as this as I was involved on organising a few events previously. You will not satisfy everyone but I think this team scored 90%.

"As part of our crisis management plan we now in process of identifing staff from support departments to be trained to perform CPC task during any emergencies. This process will further prepare us to face any eventualities and to ensure our operations of CPC is not affected. Kindly identify at least 6 staff from each of your department to be trained by our Training school to equip these staff with the necessary knowledge to perform the task. The training at the most will be for Days which will include both pratical and theory on CPC Operations which will be conducted by our Training School.
The training is only for a day but refreasher training will be conducted from time to time to equip all the selected staff to update their knowledge on the CPC processes. The departments involved are as follows: 1. Finance 2. Credit Control 3. BDU 4. HR 5. Administration 6. Internal Audit and Security 7. Training 8. 5S .

Further details are as such: Training - 4 August to 8 August Pre Hari Raya BB - 25 August to 26 September Post Hari Raya BB - 6 October to 14 October Post Hari Raya NPU - 6 October to 10 October
Total number of volunteers required: Drivers : 30 Officers : 30 BBCs : 25 We would truly appreciate it if the departments (non operational - admin departments) are able to assist in providing at least 30% of their total staff for the break bulk operations and another 15% of their staff for the post raya NPU operations.

Durian Party

The party was earlier scheduled on the 9th Aug but was moved forward to the 2nd Aug.
It was a hot, bright and sunny days. The day started with registration and then breakfast for volunteers. There were durian, mangosteen, langsat and rambutan. The durian was of good quality with small seed. Kak Norizan (ex Admin Staff) had prepared the durian gravy and we had it with glutinuous rice.
The main event of entertaining the guests started slowly for Tent D (where the Finance Staff were stationed) as most of the guests were for BDU. After a while, we had to usher them to Tent D as well.
The table were kept clean and ready for the next guests. Once the guests left, immediately the Finance Staff swooped in to clear the waste, replaced the used mineral water bottle, cleaned the table, and tidy the place back. With the new t-shirt on our back, we looked like a team.
At 2:30 PM there is a lucky draw for the volunteers. Faridah and Wan Hasliza managed to get a prize each. Kamarul and Maxine helped to picked out some of the numbers and handed out the prizes. The morning shift volunteers left the event to return to home and some came into to finalise the month end closing.

Morning shift: Kamarul, Faridah, Nor Azizah, Nurulashiqin (do not attend), Yanty, Wan Hasliza. Azuan had came in to help even though he did not volunteer.

04-07-2008 Vision 5.14 had expired today. Since the aging report is still outstanding in new version 6 is not yet operational, then an extension of the serialisation is requested from vendor. There are some staff who had not make the transitional from the old into the new version.
For those who still using the old version, you may try to change the pc date prior 04 Jul 2008 i.e. tricking the software to accept date as valid.
Maxine had arranged with Kompakar for a further extension of 6 months. The vendor must ensure the aging report should come out as promised.

A bird in Finance Department
04-07-2008 a small house bird flew inside into Lot 14 1st floor in early morning. (Sorry no picture is available)
No one acknowledge responsibility. It flew all over the places, from cabinet to cabinet and onto the floor. John (from Admin) came in to check on it but did not had any idea how to remove it. It caused a bit of stir and everyone wonder how to get rid of it. After lunch, the bird was no where to be found. Whether it had flew off or someone had removed it, no one knew.

New Management Structure
Effective from 01 Jul 2008 the following changes are taking place:
1. Mr Edward Deveraux will becomes Exec Director.
2. Mr T. Sivanadan will becomes CEO/CFO. His CFO duties will be assisted by Mrs Suzana.
3. Mr Harry Harkin will be Regional Manager - Central. Directly reporting to him is CIT (Sivanesan), ATM (Kumaraswaran) and Guardings (Akbarudin)

Durian Party By Standard Chartered Bank
Date: 23 July 2008
Venue: Mount Kiara Club House
Time: 5:30PM to 09:00PM
An event to promote closeness was done by Standarad Chartered Bank. Faridah, Shikin, Yanty and Rasidah had attended the party.
There were a lot of durians and other fruits as well. It was well organised and those who attended the event were lucky able to do so.

Central Charity Event 2008
Date: 12 Jul 2008
Venue: Kelana Jaya Stadium, Petaling Jaya
Time: 07:30AM to 14:30PM
It was bright sunny day. Total of 9 community homes were invited that counted for the 290 children and caretakers.
The day started with opening speech from En Lope Abdul Rahman and then straight to field games : flour and sweet, gunny sack runs, etc.
Afterwards, children attended the game booths and inflatable. Booth games include 1. throwing pingpong ball into marked cups, darts, throw balls at tins, fishing and basketball. Any child who win, get a prize. There were booths for drawing, sand and glue, tatooing. Two staff had volunteered as clowns who when around giving sweet and making baloons. Prizes including games, stickers, card games, uno etc. The foods were available throughout the time
At the end, each home was given two boxes of goods and foods.

Buffet at Starhill, Bukit Bintang, KL - series 2

A buffet dinner was arranged by Grace and were attended by Maxine, Suzana, Kamarul, Azzemi, Fun, Anjoe, Syam, Umayal, Krishna, Grace and Mr. Siva with wife and son.
Starhill plaza was pleasant and cool place, a bit different from others, and at the heart of Bukit Bintang area. Jogoya was located on 5th floor of Starhill, elegant and dimly lighted. The place was crowded and quite hectic.
Grace had managed to book a room with round table with its own washroom and wash basin. It was relaxing after a hot day at the Kelana Jaya earlier that day (Charity Event Central).

Central Sport Day 2008

A sport day was organised by Nilai branch for sport including futsal, badminton, and football. Faridah joined the Operations team and entered the futsal and Nor Jannah entered the woman single badminton.
The final of the games were held one week later with the Family Day on 19 Jul 2008 at Nilai.

Central Family Day 2008

Family Day for Central Region was held at Nilai. The staff attended the event were Faridah and Amiera.
Faridah won 2nd place in futsal, while she and Amiera won 1st place the woman's tug-of-war.

Rasidah's Wedding
06 Jul 08 Rasidah's wedding was held at home town Bandar Tun Abdul Razak, Pahang, while on 13 Jul is on the groom side. Both of them came from same town.
Rasidah had joined Finance Department on 15 Mar 2007 in the Treasury Section as Account Assistant.
A collection of money contribution was made on 04 Jul 2008.

Team Building Program 20 - 22 Jun 08
Venue: Dusun Tua
The following are the staff from Finance have been nominated to participate in the Team Building Program:
1. Sabariah Ahmad;
2. Asmahairani bte Yeop Khairi;
3. Umayal a/p Letchumanan;
4. Chin Oi Lan (withdraw due to unwell);
5. Mohd Sharudin Bin Seeni Mohd (withdraw due return to home town Penang);
6. Nor Azni Yanti Binti Azmi; and
7. Faridah Anom Bt Mat Nor (withdraw due to unwell).
On Friday 20th 14:30pm the remaining participants make their way to SBC for the bus. All seemed joyfull with a little anxiousness. They had their bags readied. Activities will include jungle tracking, flying fox, gymrobic and others.

Pertandingan Bowling Terbuka Operasi 2008
Venue: Ampang Superbowl at IOI Mall, Puchong

The competition was arranged by Operations Department for all departments. There were 24 teams allowed to enter subject to limitation of lanes at the venue. On top of the collection received, a sponsorship from was request to top up any shortfall. The event will be featured in publication of Buletin SSSB for period July - Sept 2008.
A team was selected to represent Finance Department with each member paying RM40.00 for games, t-shirt and lunch. They were Suzana, Azhar, Kamarul and Azizah. The recent bowling games among the Finance staff at Sunway Pyramid had allowed the members to assess themselves and gauge the expectation.
Amiera had joint Team Wacha!!!! to play with Azhar, Fendi and Rahmy.

There were technical problems at the start - 2 lanes not functional at all and the 2 teams were absorbed into 8 other groups. This had caused delay for 1/2 hour. There were limited selection of shoes due torn and damaged, and the numbers balls available were limited making it hard to find suitable ball. During the game, the lanes we were in kept giving trouble making it hard to maintain any rythm at all.
Unluckily, the Finance Team did not get any prizes at all. The scoring were averaged and none really shine out. It was not good enough to earn any prizes. Nevertheless, we gave our best.

Azizah was lucky to get a prize from the lucky draw. So all went home empty hand.
Kamarul and Suzana were called in to assist in the drawing the lots and handing out the prizes to winners. Overall we had enjoyed the food and the games. It was good opportunity to mingle out with staff from other units in the company. 
The black t-shirt with logo of the company and the game was nice to wear and we can see the guys and gals wearing black t-shirt in the bowling areas, and we know they are from Safeguards Securicor. With any outing, there those who bring along their children out to the game.

Buffet at Starhill, Bukit Bintang, KL.
21 May - an evening buffet for Finance staff was to be arranged by Grace for Financial Reporting and Treasury action on 07 Jun 08. The reservation is to be arranged by Grace after a few options was discussed before selecting the venue and time. Event started from 05:00 pm to 07:30 pm.
02 June - the meal was postponed to 12 Jul 2008 due to some staff were not able to attend for to some unavoidable engagement. Venue still remained the same.

Rajes provide breakfast
30 May - Mrs Rajeswary had provided breakfast to celebrate her return from maternity and to say thank you to all well wishes and to all staff at 1st Floor, Lot 14. The meal consisted of fried meehoon, fried rice and local kuih.

Shikin & Rajes return to work
May 20 - Shikin and Rajes returned to work after 2 months maternity leave. Both had given birth on different days in the same week. Shikin's baby boy was her first child while Rajes's was her second child.

Finance Bowling Games 2008
Venue: Sunway Pyramid, Subang Jaya

Time: 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm
After two quiet and peaceful years, the staff of Finance Department had arranged for bowling games between its staffs. 20 people had entered under 5 teams:
1. Redah je.. - Siti Bazura, Rosli, Amiera, Sharudin; Colour: Green
2. Okay Lah Tu - Faridah, Azhar, Yanty, Azizah; Colour: Red
3. Meletup! - Zaidi, Rahmy, Sabariah, Gomathi was absent and replaced by Mira (daughter of Faridah); Colour: Pink 
4. sUre wiN - Anjoe, Azni, Grace, Kamarul; Colour: Black
5. Super Power - Suzana, Affandi, Nor Jannah, Maria; Colour: White
Teams had gathered and arrived as planned. Some staff brought along their family along to the game. After a brief explanation from the organiser, the game started at 12:00 noon. There are some technical problems (the addition on points earned need be done manually) but the games continued smoothly to the end. We all played for three games. Some participants took the chance to snap away a few photos and taking the opportunity of capturing those joyous moments of spending time together.
Finally the result was announced, and that all the teams received their prizes according to ranking. The 4th and the 5th places shared the same total points. During and after prize giving ceremony, there was a photo session for the winning teams and the whole participants. The game was closed after taking pre-arranged luncheon at the venue.
The organisation committee thanked all sponsors for making the games better and more memorable. Furthermore, the committee thanked all participants for making the commitment and dedication in making the game very colourful and successful.

The 2nd runner-up is Meletup! team with total 1057 points
Fourth and fifth places are Redah Je team and sUre wiN team with 1002 points.

The Highest point for Male is Azhar Bin Abd Majid for getting 372 points
The Highest point for Female is Suzana Binti Abdul Rahman for getting 380 points.
